Passing Seasons

 Seasons are like a passing breeze, they come and go so quickly. Yet when you are in the midst of one it seems to like forever until the next season will come and time is slowly ticking along. But before you realize it the change in seasons will already be coming.

Oh! How we can relate this to times and seasons of life. For God says in His word that "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Time can seem to creep painfully slow especially when you are going through a trial in life, but just as quickly as this trial has come upon you the next season is just ahead.

"In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith - more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire - may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6-7

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:2-3

“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

And on the contrary, when things are going good, just remember that a trial is going to happen at one time or another so keep on the look out and don't grow weary of doing good.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” 1 Peter 4:12-13

“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

So my encouragement for all of you today is to embrace, with open arms, the season and time that God has currently placed you in and strive to give glory to God through your circumstance until you get to that next season in your life. "...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31b

"Finally, be strong in The Lord and in the strength of His might." Ephesians 6:10

Encouragement for Difficult Times

This blog post originated from my bible study in Acts. We were currently studying Acts 14. " We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God"  Acts 14:22 As a believer you have probably experienced the reality of this verse in your own life. Often it is through suffering that we discover the door of faith opened to us. Unlike Paul, if the choice is ours, we would (no doubt) choose the easier and shorter road, opting for comfort and convenience. However, there are no shortcuts into the kingdom of God; hence time and time again we find our faith being tried in order to produce in us the qualities that God so desires. " For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but to suffer for His sake."  Philippians 1:29 "Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted..." 2 Timothy 3:12 Following Christ is not easy, in fact, it says that we too will be persecuted just as

Imitators of Christ

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children." Ephesians 5:1 As I read this verse it made me ask myself "How are we practically supposed to be imitators of God?". God always desires for us to know more of who He is and to be more like Him. There are several verses in the bible that express this desire of God's heart. In knowing these few things, I concluded that we need to imitate the attributes of God that scripture specifically calls us to follow in. There are twelve attributes that I came up with. The first attribute was  Holiness. "...but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16 "...You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy." Leviticus 19:2b Having  Mercy  or being Merciful .  " Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful." Luke 6:36 Being Compassionate or having a Compassionate heart.
